What Will You Learn?

• The course begins with the fundamentals of accounting, introducing students to the basic principles, concepts, and terminology used in the field. They will learn about the accounting equation, double-entry bookkeeping, and the different financial statements, such as the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
• Financial accounting, where students will explore topics such as revenue recognition, inventory valuation, depreciation, and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). They will also gain an understanding of accounting for partnerships and corporations, including the analysis of financial ratios and the interpretation of financial statements.
• Managerial accounting, focusing on topics relevant to internal decision-making. Students will learn about cost behaviour, budgeting, cost-volume-profit analysis, and various costing methods such as job order costing and process costing. They will also explore the role of managerial accounting in planning, controlling, and decision-making within organizations.
• Additionally, the course covers topics in auditing, providing students with insights into the auditing process, internal controls, and the role of auditors in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
